Real Life Big Foot

                           .Gigantopithecus.

Hey, welcome back all the viewers, Today we're going to discuss an extinct genus of ape which is currently known as the largest species of ape ever existed.

It was assumed earlier that they must be from an ancestor from Africa or somewhere like that but then it was found that they were from the south part of China.

And some potential identifications were made from Thailand, Vietnam, and Indonesia.

You can imagine that they weigh nearly 250-300 Kg, they were generally herbivore from nature. Well, at Present times, you can imagine the intelligence and body figure of Orangutans.

You can imagine that Orangutans are modern-day Gigantopithecus, with reduced attributes.

Locality and Mandible:-

Well, I thought this will be the best point to start with as it will give you guys an idea about how big is the thing that we're dealing with.

So, I can say that it was the largest hominoid ever lived among us, of course, the cause of his extinction is ecological changes as it was the same in the case of Megalodon's extinction.

They were generally vegetarian and that is the reason why they had a complete set of molars and premolars like other herbivores does possess i.e., the reason to chew the target, for them it is forest leaves, stems, etc.

If you want to know where they were used to live you can refer to this image:

Even in the current day, there is some cave in the Chongzuo district of southern China, where they used to live, and you can see evidence of that.

Next figure shows you their set of molars and premolars:

Body Mass:-

Well, What i can guarantee is they weight more than you and me for sure. Well, earlier it was estimates that Big foot weighs near 200-300 kg, this data is evaluated by conroy formula of Apes, I think that was the reason why they died during ecological changes cause they weren't able to survive or evolve with this much huge body.

The above picture you're looking at is a fictional photo of Gigantopithecus, of course, they weren't this big but yet they were big, with a standing height of 2.7-3.7 m.

They possessed sexual dimorphism which means male and female had different attributes, except the difference in their sexual organs, like, difference in their mandible size as well as their height.

Summary:-

Now, we are going to end this blog but before that let's discuss how much we learnt about this creature, we first studied about it's scientific name and then the name which is more popular and also common "The Big Foot".

We discussed about it's locality and mandible presence which was essential to evaluate in carbon dating and due to it's presence we were able to track this much data.

we discussed the reason: why this creature went extinct, and at last we discussed some body mass and I shared some of it's picture available online.
